Beam Pinch Grip

Focusing on the grip of the forearm and fingers, squeeze the beam grip with the fingers. Once the beam grip is lifted up, the objective of the movement can be to hold the grip for as long as possible in one spot or walking with the grip to see the max distance that can be achieved.

Beam Pinch Grip

How to perform:

Beam Pinch Grip

The beam grip trains the forearms and fingers, increasing grip strength. A lot of people do not train grip strength specifically, and claim that all the grip strength training needed comes from other lifts. However, the beam grip does not allow the fingers to wrap around it like a barbell or dumbbell, making it more challenging. This trains a different type of grip, since the fingers are flat squeezing against the beam.

Select an appropriate weight and clip it onto the carabiner. Then, place the top of the beam grip horizontally across the middle of the hand and fold the thumb and fingers straight down around it. Your fingers should be parallel to each other and straight. Focus the grip especially with the pinky and ring fingers, gripping it hard. Stand up with the weight and it can just be used as a hold standing in place or similarly to a farmer's carry, walking a max distance. Both beam grips can be done at the same time or one hand can be focused, both will give great results using hand and forearm muscles.

Protocol:

Complete 1-2x performing max hold or max distance walking
